Weekend Sewing

The weather is going to be a bit yucky this weekend – not much sun and temps that are almost 20 degrees lower than they have been all week. Sooo, that means spending some fun time in the sewing room!

On deck for the next couple of days:

Make a Baby Quilt

I have all the HSTs made and trimmed for a ‘Pretty in Pink’ baby quilt. This should go together quickly. I have a cuddly flannel for the back that baby will love. I need to finish this so I can put it in the mail on Monday.

Start on Jen’s T-shirt Quilt

This one will be emotional, but healing in a small way for my sister-in-law I hope. She and my brother and Jen’s hubby gave me a stack of Jen’s most loved race shirts. Karen (SIL) doesn’t sew but wants to help make this quilt. It may take us a while because I haven’t made a t-shirt quilt before but that’s okay. I’m looking at this project as therapy.

Keep Sewing on the Clamshells

I finished quilting all the rows of clamshells on Mom’s quilt, now I am starting on the stippling. I can only work on the stippling in short sessions – my arms really burn from all those tiny movements.

Start a Craftsy Class

As if all the above isn’t enough! I am excited though about the newest Craftsy class I enrolled in: Design It, Quilt It: Free-Form Techniques by Cindy Needham. This class sounds like it will be so helpful in making design decisions when I’m trying to plan the quilting for a top. It is a class that covers a lot of topics, from combining battings to ditch stitching to using stencils and using free form designs. There’s also a section on quilting borders which can be a challenge for me sometimes.

The class is on sale today for $19.99, and sale price for me is always good! If you’re interested in finding out more I would love it if you used this link. It’s an affiliate link and helps support my blog.

So, I think I have enough to keep me busy this weekend! What are you going to do?

Sounds like you had a great weekend in your sewing room. I’ve made one T-shirt quilt, they go together pretty fast once you get all the shirts backed with interfacing and cut out.

Sounds like a great plan for the weekend 🙂 I hope the t-shirt quilt for your SIL proves to be a therapeutic and special project for you and your SIL.

I have taken that Cindy Needham class – you are going to LOVE it!! It was an awesome class, lots of great information and ideas. I need to go back and watch it again:)

Yucky in New York too. Quilting, cleaning, packing to move at the end of the month. And working on blog posts. Happy Weekend!!
