My Deal of the Day

I love a good deal and I wanted to share with you the super deal I got today. I stopped in at JoAnn’s this morning to pick up some thread. Our local store is undergoing a major remodel so I was browsing around to familiarize myself with the new layout.  I had a few 50% off coupons that are good thru this week so if I found something I couldn’t live without I would just have to buy it, right?

When I saw the book rack the very first book I saw was Elizabeth Hartman’s “Modern Patchwork”. (Does the period go inside or outside those quote marks? I never know how to do the punctuation.) But I digress……

Book Modern Patchwork Elizabeth Hartman

This morning I read Vine Lines Quilting blog post about Elizabeth’s Aviatrix Medallion quilt, which lead me to her blog where I saw this book. So when I saw it again at JoAnn’s and I could use that 50% off coupon I knew it was meant to be mine.

So quilter guys and gals, if you have those coupons (they sent me 4!) one of the items you can use it on is any book in the store.  I think they expire this week. I’m so excited to sit down with my new book and read it cover to cover. I’ve already found two patterns for sure that I want to do and that was just browsing through it in the store!  The book cost me just a few bucks more than the average price of a single pattern so I’d say that’s a good deal.

P.S. This is not a promotion for JoAnn’s – it’s just where I happened to get such a great deal.  It’s also not a promotion for Elizabeth’s book; her book is the one that I purchased with my coupon. But seriously, look at that cover quilt! 🙂

Happy Sewing,

I love that book, it has been one of my favorites. Enjoy it and thanks for passing a good shopping tip.

  2. What a great deal! I hope you get lots of inspiration from the book – Elizabeth is great. I was really lucky to take a FMQing class from her a while ago. 🙂

I am by no means skilled in grammar and punctuation but I think it depends on where you are regionally and UK vs US English. In US English with parenthesis you put the . on the inside of the brackets if it’s the end of the sentence, but I put it on the outside (UK English). To me the last bracket is still part of the whole sentence and needs to be closed off with the period which ends a sentence. I think I’ve seen quotation marks used similarly, but since you’re also quoting a book title and the book title does not have a period in it, I would still put it on the outside — on the inside it would look like part of the quote. Like I said though, I’m in no way skilled in grammar or punctuation! That’s just how I look at it!

I have a 40% off voucher for our version of JoAnns (Spotlight). I haven’t decided what to buy yet because last time I was there a couple of weeks ago for another sale, I couldn’t find anything to buy either!

I have this book and I love the unique backings for each quilt.

  5. I just got that book last week and just ordered all of the fabric to make the quilt on the back cover. I’m so excited!! Too bad I missed out on the coupon. Maybe I should go look for another book….. 😉
