MCM #67 – Freddy the Frog

Welcome to Main Crush {Tuesday}! As I mentioned on Sunday, the New Quilt Bloggers Blog Hop started yesterday. To keep things from getting too cluttered, I moved MCM to Tuesday this week. It will also be moved the weeks of:

  • April 17
  • May 1
  • May 8

If you haven’t joined in the blog hop fun, you might want to. There’s great prizes from our wonderful sponsors – go check out this post for more info and to enter.

Now, on to my crush(es) for this week!

First, I have the cutest little frog to show you. Have you seen this little guy?

Freddy Frog Tape MeasureI’ve named him Freddy. I’m not sure why, I guess he looks like a Freddy to me. My sister gave this little guy to me on my recent visit with her.

Freddy is special – look what he does:

Freddy Frog Tape MeasureHa! This just cracks me up! (No, it doesn’t take much to amuse me..) Freddy hangs out in my sewing room until I take a shopping trip. Then he hops along in my handbag. You know, for those occasions when you just need a tape measure!

I’ve been busy working on client quilts for the past week. I have a stack of them to do and I’m kinda slow. It would be so much easier to load these up on a longarm and quilt away. But I’ll admit, I like being up close and personal to the quilts when I’m stitching on them. I feel like I have a lot more control.

This quilt is so beautiful. The stitching, and the metallic on the border fabric is stunning. It doesn’t hurt that this is one of my favorite colors. The only negative is the gazillion threads I had to bury. But a self-threading needle speeds the process up nicely.

cross stitch quiltI wanted to grab some pictures early yesterday morning, so I took the quilt out before I trimmed it. It was a bit overcast, so when the sun came through I tried again. The wind had a different plan:

cross stitch quiltThis was my best picture. There was no way I was getting a shot of the quilt laid out nice and neat. Maybe I can try again once it’s trimmed.

If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen some pics of the stitching I’m doing on my current project. My sister is coming to visit for Easter, so I’m working hard to get this one finished. It will be close. But hey, sleep is underrated right??

I can’t wait to share this finish with you.

Now it’s your turn! Last week we had so many people join our linky party, that we spilled out onto the deck and into the yard. 🙂 Thank you so much for linking up and sharing your projects. I love seeing all the inspiration.

First, Lea Anne of Podunk Pretties shared her so sweet Pretty Lemonade quilt that she started quilting. I’m a bit obsessed with the feathers she is stitching. If you didn’t see it be sure to check it out. (I think I saw the finished quilt on Instagram.) It’s so pretty.

Andree of Quilting & Learning shared this adorable beaver block. Those teeth just crack me up – so cute!

Look at these adorable baby shoes! I would love to have a pair for myself – I can’t believe these were a sewing project. For more info on them, hop over to Finding Joy in the Little Things.

  1. I hope it doesn’t hurt Freddy when he loses an eye!!! I love the quilt at the top of you post – the colours are gorgeous and that stitching looks exquisite.

  2. Bonnie in Va says:

Freddie is adorable. Hopefully his eye is attached to the beginning of the tape measure because I would worry that he loses his eye! Do you hand quilt, domestic machine quilt? I like the ghost quilting.

  3. Sandra says:

Oh how I love that Freddy! Even more though, I believe I love that turquoise quilt–WOW! Can’t wait to see more pics.

  4. quiltingmod says:

Where’d Freddy’s eye go? You have a morbid sense of humor! Seems the tongue should come out of his mouth and lick the eyeball, or is that just lizards? Beats the critters that poop out candy!

  5. Tracy says:

I was so surprised to see my shoes featured! thank-you 🙂 They were a fun project, and SO darn cute!!! My girls and I squealed so much as I was making them!!
Freddy is a whole lot cuter than the mini contractor – type tape measure I keep in my purse! (although, I must admit, for a yellow and black tape measure, it’s pretty cute, too)

  6. Freddy is a cutie! Enjoyed seeing the quilts you are working on!

  7. Jayne says:

Love little Freddy! I get cheap thrills all the time…it doesn’t take much for me either!

Freddie is adorable! Glad he is ready at anytime to hop to the challenge of measuring something 🙂 Your customer’s quilt is a wonderful shad of blue green. Hopefully, the weather will cooperate and you can get a few more pictures of it. And of course I am digging the ghost quilting! I want to see more 🙂

  10. Freddie is too cute. The quilt is lovely, even if the wind didn’t let you get the shot! Haha. It’s been so overcast here lately, with rain, so pictures outdoors haven’t been optimal either. Have fun with your sister!

  11. Lea Anne says:

Thanks for the feature, it was a wonderful surprise this morning.

  12. Love your fun and useful frog. Freddie is a great name for him. Your customer’s quilt is gorgeous. Happy stitching this week.

  13. smilesfromkate says:

I so love Freddy. I have a boring round one and thought I was doing well when I found a floral patterned new one but they don’t compare with Freddy.

  14. I realized I had turned into my mother when I decided to keep a tape measure in my purse (I already had the calculator)!
