MCM #66 – Adding to the Stash

Happy Monday, and welcome to Main Crush Monday!

Last week I got to spend some wonderful time with my sister and our quilty friend Shellie. We went to Lancaster, PA for the AQS quilt show and conducted our own mini shop hop. Oh my gosh! We had so much fun! We shopped, and shopped, and ate, and shopped some more. Then ate more. Went to bed and did it all over again the next day. 🙂

When we got back to my sister’s house, I was able to stay an extra night. Her hubby had to go out of town so it was just the two of us, and I loved spending so much time with her. My sister is a very busy woman, but we had uninterrupted time and we didn’t waste it. We moved her sewing machine to her dining room, binged on trashy TV and yummy pizza and sewed for hours. My idea of heaven…

We finished a quilt top for her grandson, and some stuffed dolls for her granddaughter. And I was having such a great time I totally forgot to take pictures!

I do have pictures of some of the fabrics I bought, so I’m going to share them with you now.

First, I bought some Essex yarn dyed linen. I’ve wanted some for a while and when I saw it on the shelf I had to get some. My plan is to use it in handbags and zipper pouches. Whenever that happens, I’ll let you know how I like working with it.

I bought these next three fabrics to use for bindings. I love black/white bindings and I’m excited to use these. Of course, that implies I’ll have some finishes sometime soon. Hmm. I might want to try to make that happen.

Quilters Linen. Need I say more? I *love* this stuff! My LQS has started carrying a few bolts. Hopefully they’ll expand their selection and add more colors. Until then, I pick up a few pieces whenever I see it in a shop.

This stack of sunshine just sorta jumped in my hands and came home with me. You know I love bright colors, and the Blueberry Park bundle is certainly bright. I don’t have any plans for this just yet…..I’m going to use it to brighten up my sewing room for a while. That’s a very important job!

Before I bought the FQ bundle, I had picked up these two pieces from the same line. I think they are great additions to my stash and I’m sure I’ll find the perfect project for them soon.

These two pieces were in the clearance aisle for $4/yard! So of course I couldn’t leave them there, right?? I love the whimsy of the floral piece. I’m on the lookout for some pieces to add to them, and then they are going to become a special quilt project – all for moi!

And last but certainly not least, Sis and I couldn’t resist picking up this fun fabric. It perfectly depicts all the fun we had – it’s like the designer followed us around and then sketched up this design! I can’t wait to play with it and see what I can come up with.

shop hop fabricIn addition to these fabrics, I picked up a couple of layer cakes, five more FQ bundles, a charm pack, stencils, templates for EPP, chalk markers, and various other tools. My sewing room is totally stocked now! I can’t wait to jump in there and start creating.

You guys have seen my crushes for this week, so now let’s see yours! Because this post is so picture heavy already, I’m going to get right to the linky party. What has you excited to be in your sewing space? You can link up any blog post, Instagram or Flickr pic – here’s how:

I was in Lancaster during the show too! Did you get a chance to check out the mud sale in the Gap?! It was amazing………………….

  2. What fun! I’m jealous on so many levels — you went to an awesome show and bought some fabulous fabric. Did you take your sister to the show, too, or just your friend? (My sister will go to a quilt show just about the time hell freezes over!) Either way, what a great little get-away!
