MCM #52 – The Crush That Wasn’t

Can you believe we only have two Main Crush Monday posts before the end of the year?

I have to admit, today I don’t have any pretty pictures to share with you that shows the project I’m currently crushing on. It’s the same as last week – that beautiful ombre fabric. You may have seen a few pics I posted on Instagram. I’ve made a little progress, but I really haven’t had much sewing time these past few days and this week doesn’t look like it will be much better in the sewing department.

However, I am crushing on all the fun I’ll be having this week outside the sewing room.  I will be finishing up some Christmas shopping today, having dinner with a very dear friend on Wednesday, baking cookies Tuesday/Wednesday, and cleaning the house on Friday to prepare for the boys who will be coming home on Saturday.

I hope you have a great week, whether it is spent sewing or prepping for the holiday.

So, since I don’t have any pretty pics, let’s take a look at some of the pretties that were linked last week. Hopefully you got to visit a lot of the link-ups – there are some great projects!

Abby @ Fluffy Puppy Quilt Works shared a tutorial for a lovely French Braid Table Runner. Be sure to check it out – she did a wonderful job on both the table runners and the tutorial. Bonus – this pattern is Jelly Roll friendly!

I’m always jealous when Bonnie of Institches with Bonnie gets out her embroidery machine. Look at these adorable shirts she did for her grandchildren. Beyond cute!

If you are an EQ7 user, you might be interested in the online class Sharon of Yellow Cat Quilt Designs is reviewing on her blog. The course is taught by Craft University – Sharon shares information on the course and there is a direct link. The medallion quilt shown below is a quilt she designed during the class. Learning more about using EQ7 is on my goal list for 2017.

I have seen a lot of pictures of the newest Bonnie Hunter Mystery Quilt-Along “En Provence” show up on several social media sites. I haven’t joined in because I positively cannot add one more thing to my plate, but I am really enjoying seeing all the different fabric choices. This is what Lisa in Port Hope is working on:

And last, but certainly not least – if you are planning on writing/sharing your goals for 2017, why not link them with Yvonne’s (quilting JETgirl) 2017 Planning Linky party? Reading through those posts are inspiring, and you will be eligible for some cool prizes by linking up.

Okay everyone – now it’s YOUR turn to share what you are crushing on this week. It can be any project, fabric, tool, book – anything crafty that has you excited to be in your sewing space this week. You can link any blog post, Instagram or Flickr pic – here’s how:

  1. Merry Christmas to you! Thank you for all the linky parties this year. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed joining the party and visiting other blogs. I’ve even found some new blogs to follow. I’m gearing up for a marathon sewing session so I can finish my bear quilt by Friday. Why can’t I just follow the pattern as printed? It would make life so much easier.

Oh Beth, thanks for the shout out on the embroidering. I always BUY the designs so my creativity comes in on picking the threads. Not all that creative but I do like what I do. Here’s wishing you get everything done you want to this week and have a great holiday. So much fun to spend some time with our kids and grands.

  4. It is really hard to believe we are so close to the end of the year, Beth. I hope you have a great week!

  5. Sounds liek you are having a grand ol time though!! Enjoy having everyone home!

  6. Merry Christmas, Beth! I just purchased your Twirl pattern, so I’m itching to try it out. Maybe today, but it being Christmas week and I’m behind on things, it might have to wait! Enjoy your holidays!

  10. Kate says:

Have a very happy holiday and enjoy your family time. I’m in the same boat in terms of holiday prep.

  11. I need to buy molasses so I can make gingerbread cookies. Otherwise Santa might be getting goldfish crackers.

There isn’t much sewing going on here just now either, not even time to play with my new Baby, sad. I did share the most wonderful cake recipe though.
