MCM #49 – Sewing for Me

Hi Everyone! I hope you had a wonderful holiday weekend. The hubs and I were able to spend some fun time with our boys, eat lots of great food, take a few (several) naps, and generally just relax – a lot! I gave myself permission to take last week off from sewing for others; it felt like a much needed vacation. 🙂

So, during my down time, I worked on some test blocks and played with the new fabric cutter I bought for myself last month. I made HST’s and flying geese. Lots of them.

I’ve got to say, I love making HST’s with pieces cut from this cutter. They go together so perfectly and the absolute best part is that there is no trimming! Gotta love that!

I am definitely crushing on my fabric cutter this week and probably will be for a long time. It’s like being a kid again with a new toy.

The test blocks I am making are for a new pattern I’ve been working on for the last month or so. Hopefully it will be ready for release sometime in January. Yay!

Today I will get back to quilting the Twirl quilt I am making for Sister 3 – I know you guys are patiently waiting for me to finish the quilting on this monster. I can’t wait to finish it; hopefully there will be much more progress to share with you this week!

I also plan to have a Best of 2015 post to share with you in a day or so, as well as a 2016 Planning post. So I guess I better get to writing and quilting. 🙂

What are you working on during this last week of 2015? I would love to see your projects and quilty crushes. You can link up any blog post, Instagram or Flickr pic – here’s how:

Sounds like you’ve got a very nice week planned. Hope you get in lots of stitching time.

I shouldn’t have read your post. Every time I read about the Go! cutters, I think I need to buy one but I just don’t have the space to store it.

This week my Hubby is on vacation so I don’t know how much quilting will get done, unless it’s in the car. My one and only goal is to finish my Double Irish Chain quilt.

Love your twirl quilt, show it all you want. =) It’s good to take time off and regenerate. I’m doing that this week. Looks like your new cutter is a marvel! I linked my win on my CQ4Fun blog, because I’m definitely crushing on those threads!

Oh — I’m going to be playing with my cutter too this week. Or at least for the first 2 days. Then I’ll be sewing what I cut on it. Only downside of the cutter is you need to buy all sorts of dies for it. My kids did a great job for my Christmas presents but now I need to figure out what are my most wanted dies. I’m off to the studio now! Enjoy your personal quilting time. Looking forward to see what you come up with for the new pattern.

Sounds like you had a wonderful and relaxing Christmas. Sometimes you just need a break to refresh your batteries. Little black and red HST’s…I’m intrigued. I can’t wait to see the finished project.

  8. I am crushing on having my husband all to myself for 2 weeks, so I’ve taken a big break from my quilting time to spend as much time with him as I can. 🙂 I am glad to hear you had such a nice Christmas, and I hope you have a great week and Happy New Year!
