MCM #37 – Twirl Quilt Progress

Happy Monday! Can you believe we are on the back side of September already?  I feel like just last week we were in June, and now fall is almost here. Whew! We have had some absolutely beautiful weather here – warm days, cool nights – I hope it sticks around for a while.

Twirl Pattern Quilt Top

I am making progress on the Twirl quilt. I got all of the messed up blocks fixed, and I am so happy I changed them. It really does make a difference in the look of the quilt once the blocks are sewn together.

Above is a photo of part of the top spread out on my bed. My design wall isn’t big enough for a king size top, so I’m using my bed or my living room floor. Since hubby was watching a football game in the living room, I decided using my bed as a design space was probably safer. 🙂

I have a couple of rows to sew together and then the top will be ready for the borders. Just as I was working on putting the last two rows together yesterday, my machine decided to throw a little tantrum. I’m giving it a break, mostly because I want a break myself, and I’ll get back to it today.

I can’t wait to show you guys the top when it is all put together – I hope you don’t get tired of these little glimpses I’m sharing with you now. I really do love how these fabrics are working together and I think it’s going to be a gorgeous quilt when it is finally finished.

I want you to know how much I appreciate your link-ups each week. I visit each link and love seeing all the different projects going on. I try to comment on each post, but there are some I am unable to. See, I usually catch up on all my blog reading on my iPad because it’s so portable. Some of the blogs use Captcha to keep out the spam and those are the ones I can’t comment on. The Captcha generates a code that needs to be copied in order to comment – I can’t cut and paste the code when I’m on my iPad (or I don’t know how) and I can’t always get to my desktop computer.

So please know – if you don’t hear from me it’s not because I’m not reading your posts. I am, and I love them! My hope is to get my laptop up and running soon so I won’t have this issue, but until then I’m just making it work. And please don’t think I’m griping about the Captcha – I totally understand why you are using it.

So now – what projects are you working on this week? Twirl is my crush for Main Crush Monday and I would love to see yours. You can link up below – here’s how:

Great minds, Beth! You and I both have twirling (me whirling) on our minds and in our fabrics! I hear your computer woes…mine is just too much freaking time spent on it!

This is a fascinating block and I love how it’s coming together. I can see now why you missed the corner triangles on those blocks you had to rip out. The white pinwheel blocks get corner triangles but the dark pinwheel blocks do not. You really have to keep your thinking hat on for that one since the blocks are so similar. I had to switch back and forth between this and your previous post to figure it out! That is so, so easy to miss! Good thing you have a lot of contrast within the block otherwise you would really go zonkers. Go a little easier on your self for the slip up. Glad you are on track again. Quilt is coming together nicely. Keep up the progress snapshots. I am enjoying them.

Twirl is looking great! Can’t wait to see her finished. We could never get tired of your little sneak peak. Sadly, I’m not quite ready to share what I have been crushing on, so I will have to indulge on everyone else’s crush.

It’s always such a good feeling to get mistakes fixed, even though it’s such a pain. Love the colors in your Twirl quilt. it’s going to be a beauty.

Ripping out stitching is never fun to do or admit. It’s going to be beautiful. I love the traditional look of this quilt.

  13. Cath says:

Your quilt is looking lovely. Even though you had to take time out to do some reverse sewing….at least you can sit back and know it was worth it!
