MCM #3 – New Fabric

NOTE: I just found out I am having some issues with the blog comments. These usually show up in my email which makes it super easy to respond to everyone. However, last week your comments never made it to my inbox.  I’m working to figure out the problem and fix it; please know if I haven’t responded it’s not because I don’t appreciate you. I love when you guys share and the conversations we have that are sparked by a blog post. I’m working on it! (And if there are any other WordPress users out there that have had this issue, please let me know!)

I love the excitement a few pieces of new fabric brings, don’t you? I have three new fabrics that I just can’t wait to cut into and I am seriously crushing on these. I bought them with a specific pattern in mind, so I hope it all works out in person as well as it does in my head. 🙂

Kona, Bella, and V and Co.

It all started with that lovely blue. Swoon…. Our January Queen for the Bee Hive requested we use Kona Prussian blue in her block and I’m so happy she did. I ordered a yard with no idea how pretty the blue is. When it arrived I was instantly smitten. So, I got back online and ordered another three yards. It will be here in a few days. Yay!

Meanwhile, I knew I wanted to pair it with a mustard yellow and found the Bella Solid — in Mustard — at my local quilt shop. I also found that great print from V and Co. Soon, a quilt will be born! I’m not going to start cutting though until I finish the bee block to keep me from getting distracted. So today I will be making some bee blocks and waiting for the other three yards to be delivered.

This pile of loveliness is my crush for this week – what’s yours? I would love to see what you are working on and what has you excited to be in your sewing space. You can link up any blog post, Instagram or Flickr pic – here’s how:

I love those fabrics! Especially the white and yellow print on the bottom. Start cutting, Beth, I can’t wait to see what they become.

  4. Great fabrics, I love the combination of a dark blue combined with a mustardy yellow.

My favorite quilts have blue in them, and blue and gold is a special favorite.

That comment thing happens in blogger too. I always thought it was at the sender side, especially if it was a blogger to wordpress or wordpress to blogger issue. Switching to Explorer from Chrome helped.

How fun to be planning a new project. Great group of fabrics.

Glad to have shared my Prussian Blue obsession with you! I own far more than my bee block requires (even with making a few extra blocks). Can’t wait to see what you create with that fabric pull. I’m really fixated on those colors right now.

  8. Great fabric selection! I have some of the V and Co in several colorways and I have found it to be such a crush worthy versatile pattern! Can’t wait to see what you do with it.

Love your fabrics…seriously crush-worthy! Is that Prussian Blue any lighter than the picture shows? I am looking for a perfect blue to make an Irish chain with…not having the best of luck, as it is for my son whose idea of perfect blue doesn’t necessarily jive up with mine, lol! I love those V&Co prints in all her colors!

Beautiful fabric palette. Looking forward to seeing the quilt.

  15. I have had that happen to my comments as well, Beth. I had to go look through my “spam” directory and select them all and then say “Not Spam”. It decided to do it randomly one day and since I un-flagged the messages, I have not had an issue again (knock on wood). Hopefully it will be an easy fix for you, whatever the problem.

Prussian is a dreamy color, and pairing it with a mustard is a great idea. The tones sound like they should line up well and they look great in that photo. 🙂
