MCM #29 – Giveaway Winners

We have some fun business to take care of first thing this morning – the winners of a PDF copy of my first quilt pattern! Congratulations to…………{drumroll, please}………….

Pattern Front

Rebecca Grace and Marcie McDonald.  Yay!!! I have emailed you ladies.

In case you didn’t know, Rebecca Grace blogs at Cheeky Cognoscenti – go check it out sometime! She has a lot of fun quilts on her site.

Thank you to everyone who commented and to all of you for being so supportive. I appreciate your kindness more than you know!

I didn’t get to spend much time in my sewing room last week. I was hit with a stomach flu that kept me down for three days, and the green beans in our garden were ready to be picked and canned. I’m glad to have those beans done and now I’m ready for some sewing time.

Although last week was busy, I did get a couple of zipper pouches made for gifts and finished my block for Queen Tina in the Bee Hive. I am excited to check these projects off my to do list and move on to a bigger WIP – my Checkered Past quilt.

Checkered Past Shoo Fly Quilt Blocks

I still have the quilting to do on Checkered Past. I used leftover jelly roll strips and charm squares and pieced the back with some Kona Sand I got a super deal on – $3/yard from a closing Etsy shop! I love finding a bargain. 🙂 So, the back is pieced and the quilt is basted. Now I just need to finalize the quilting design and get started. Do you find you are afraid to commit to a quilting design, so you procrastinate? For some reason, I’m having a hard time getting started on the quilting on this quilt. I’m sure that once I get started it will be okay, it’s just that ‘getting started’ part!

I promised tutorials for the two blocks in this quilt and those will be posted this week. I have them written and ready to go.

I also need to cut my fabric for Cheryl’s Midnight Mystery Quilt. She’ll be sending out sewing instructions in August, so I better hop to it!

Oh, and I can’t go until I tell you – we have had SUNSHINE for the last several days!! Usually not a big deal for us in July, but this year has been nothing but rain for weeks. Sun gives me energy and I’m so much more productive when it is shining.  Hopefully it will stay this pretty for a while longer.

So that’s what is going on in my sewing room this week. I am still crushing on those Basic Grey fabrics in Checkered Past, and of course on my pattern Floating. 🙂 Don’t forget, Floating will be on sale for $6 on Craftsy and Etsy all this week so if you didn’t win a copy and want one get it before the price goes up.

So let’s see what you are crushing on this week! I would love to see what you are working on or what has you excited to be in your sewing space. Remember, your crush can be anything sewing/quilting related – new fabric, a new tool, a new technique you’ve learned, or any project you are working on. Come join the party!

Sunshine! That’s fabulous, and beautiful jars of green beans lined up? Can’t complain about that! On top of that, having this wonderful quilt ready to go – every time I see it, I love it more! Yes, sometimes I have a hard time taking those first stitches. =) I’m so sorry you weren’t feeling well, but you still got so much done! Wonder Woman. =) Happy that flu is a thing of the past. Congratulations to those two winners. They should be really happy!

I am glad that you are feeling better. Sometimes my quilt-tops stay un-quilted for weeks while I am deciding on a quilting design. So, yes, I definitely procrastinate 🙂
