MCM #26 – Giveaway Winner and New Fabric

Hi Everyone! I am sooo happy to be home and back to my computer and sewing room! I successfully delivered Mom to my Aunt & Uncle and traveled home safely. Except for a little traffic, the trip was easy and I really enjoyed myself. I even managed to visit a couple of quilt shops and brought home a few lovely pieces of fabric, which makes me very happy.

Before I show you the fabric, it is time to announce the winner of Meadow Mist Design’s Sea Star quilt pattern. There were 45 entries and Mr. Random Number Generator selected #22 as the winner. Congratulations Carolyn! I have emailed you.

i love walking on the grass barefoot except when it is wet.

I really enjoyed reading your responses to my question – do you like to go barefoot outside? It was fun to hear your stories. Thanks so much!

Remember, if you would like your own copy of Cheryl’s pattern it is on sale until July 11th for $6.00 from her Craftsy, Etsy, or Payhip stores.

Now, on to the fabric I brought home. These are definitely pieces I am crushing on this week – I can’t wait to cut into them.

These pieces are so outside my comfort zone; I’m not quite sure what I was thinking. But I have a project in mind for them and the more I look at them, the more they grow on me. They are metallic prints (!) from Timeless Treasures.

Next up, red, gray, and black. How can I go wrong with these sweet prints? I think they will make great zipper pouches. These are 60″ wide canvas prints and I can’t wait to work with them.

Red, Gray, Black

I have decided to join in on the mystery quilt along that Cheryl is doing over at Meadow Mist Designs. These are my fabric selections. The most difficult part in selecting fabric is not knowing the final design. Cheryl has offered to give us a sneak peek if we want it to help in fabric selection, but I have decided to just let go and enjoy. (You might say I have a bit of a control issue…) I’m excited to start. The cutting instructions have just been released, so I will be cutting into these soon. It’s not too late to join in if you want!

Midnight Mystery Quilt Along

I have a few more pieces but will wait to share those – this post is getting pretty long! I think I have some pretty nice fabric to crush on and can’t wait to start playing with them this week.

So what is your Main Crush this week? I would love to see what you are working on and what has you excited to be in your sewing space. Last week I didn’t get to visit everyone who linked up because I was traveling. I will catch up on all my blog reading this week and look forward to seeing what you are doing. Thanks so much for linking up and sharing your projects. They are so inspirational!

Glad you got your mom back safe, and managed to acquire some more fabric for quilt therapy! Quite a variety of pieces here, and I think you will have some terrific projects out of them. Great idea to use canvas for zipper pouches.

  2. Myra says:

Shhh, I have seen the mystery quilt pattern (I don’t do mysteries), and your fabrics will look great! Just sayin’!!!

  3. Patti A. says:

I just found and joined. I have a great friend I would love to make something for with the fabric. Thanks for the chance to win.

I like your fabric choices. They aren’t my colors, but they go together so well that I think I could actually use them and like it in the end. I’m contemplating it myself, but I won’t be going in blind. I never like them when I do that! Your purchases from your trip are great! I’m glad you had that much fun. =)

  5. Ooh, your fabric goodies are all so beautiful, and so different! Good for you, working outside of your comfort zone by “going blind” on the mystery quilt. Sometimes that leaves you wishing you’d seen the whole quilt ahead of time, but other times you get to the end and you see that you made fabric/color choices that you really LIKE that you would not have picked deliberately. Have fun!

Great new fabrics, the mystery quilt sounds like fun and I wish I could join in the fun. Looking forward to seeing your progress.

  7. I’m doing the Midnight Mystery, too, but honestly haven’t picked out fabric yet. Your fabrics are so pretty for it that I think I should get on the ball. Projects keep creeping up on me!

So very glad your trip went well, and you’re home in one piece. Quilt stores definitely break up the monotony of travel, and it’s always nice to check out a new one.

Love your fabric choices. I like the idea of the mystery quilt. I may join in. I’ll have to have a look through my fabric to see if I’ve got something to inspire.

  9. Hooray for a safe and successful trip – it does look like you found a nice quilt store or two along the way! Metallic prints can be so much fun! I look forward to seeing what you make with them. 🙂 And I am glad to see you joining in on the Midnight Mystery QAL fun with Cheryl. I had a blast last year and am already excited for August’s instructions.

I love to hear from you! I read all your comments and will respond by email to you.
