MCM #21 – Basic Grey

Checkerboard Blocks

These blocks are part of my latest project and I like them a lot! Sunday was a day of mixed weather – thunderstorms and sunshine – so I decided to take advantage and spend the day in my sewing room.

I have had a jelly roll of Persimmon by Basic Grey for a while now but didn’t know what I wanted to do with it. Lately I’ve been sketching some ideas, and Sunday was the perfect time to try them out.

I really like this line of fabric. So much so that I’m going to have to try to track down some yardage for hoarding purposes. You know how sometimes when you see something you just feel it in your gut that you’re going to love it? That’s the way I felt about these prints and my gut was right – I do love them!

Here are a few more blocks ready for assembly. I’m not sure yet what the finished quilt will look like; I’ve got some ideas for different blocks to add. Whatever it ends up being, I just know in my gut that it’s going to be one of my favorites. 🙂

That’s what I’m crushing on for Main Crush Monday. How about you? I would love to see what you are working on and what has you excited to be in your sewing space this week. You can link up any Instagram pic or blog post – here’s how:

Hi Beth! How fun to spend the day sketching and planning out a quilt. I love the Persimmon line too and just bought 7 charm packs to dream with. You can still find yardage and precuts for Persimmon on Etsy.

That is a nice line of fabrics to work with. I have a feeling that something amazing is going to come out of this. Can’t wait to see it.

  5. Have checked my own stash, and not a single fabric from the line. It’s wonderful, though! I hate when I ‘discover’ a fabric that’s not quite new, and then it’s hard to find. Hope you can hunt it down, but Etsy is always a good place to find things.

Thanks for hostessing your link up today. I love linking up here, Beth.

Squeeze in some more sewing time this week between rainstorms, and let’s both hope they blow to the east to share with our quilty friends there like Lara B. :- )

  6. You are right, lovely fabrics. Your blocks are spot on. Must be fun just sewing with beautiful fabrics and not to know how it ends. Have fun and a lot of beautiful weather!

Ooooo. I love those prints. I hadn’t really checked this line out before. I especially love the orange leaves. Can’t wait to see what you end up with.

  8. How fun, Beth! It sounds like you had a lot of fun playing and exploring on Sunday. 🙂 I know exactly what you mean about that feeling that you are going to love a fabric. I hope you can find more of it to purchase.
