MCM #16 – New Fabric Crush

Quilters-Linen-Ocean-Color-Palette I have been cutting, stitching, and pressing like crazy over the weekend. I have had a lot of alone time (translation: sewing time!), a new pattern I’m working on, and this beautiful color palette to inspire me. I have a serious crush on these fabrics!

I’ve given you glimpses of these on Instagram, and here are a couple more pictures. The top two pieces are Quilter’s Linen by Robert Kaufman, the dark gray is Shadow Play by Maywood Studio, and the light is Bella Fog. I think this will be my new favorite background color for a while. I am seriously obsessed with the Fog!

The new pattern is perfect for these fabrics and I can’t wait to share it with you. It is so versatile, and I love that the blocks create a secondary pattern. It looks complicated but is incredibly easy and fast. Finishing the quilt and proofing the pattern are my two main goals this week. Let’s hope all goes as planned!

Now on to this week’s Main Crush Monday party! There were some great crushes last week – did you get to visit some of the other blog links?

Jen of Patterns By Jen shared a tutorial on how she makes hanging sleeves for smaller quilts and then shared her mini star block:

Susan of Desert Sky Quilts showed how she put together butterfly blocks to create a fun block and there’s a link to the tutorial in case you’d like to make your own:

And Julie of Pink Doxies gave some great tips for all of us who want to be strippers (Yes, you read that right!) 🙂

We have had wonderful weather the past several days and this week promises to bring more of the same. That makes it a bit difficult to spend time sewing when there are numerous outdoor activities to keep us busy, but I hope you find some time to spend in your sewing space.

I also hope you’ll link up and share your crush. You can link any blog post, Instagram or Flickr pic – here’s how:

Lovely simple palette Beth! I whipped up a “test” quilt for a possible pattern…trying to figure this out and gain a little footing after Cheryl’s great pattern writing series 🙂 Can’t wait to see what you’ve got going!

  8. You’re too good to me, Beth! Thank for the shout out. Btw, did you know the RK Quilter’s Linens are available as FQ bundles? Check them out.

  9. I completely understand the impact of the weather on our sewing time. It was such a gorgeous weekend and I didn’t set foot in the sewing room. Today I need to whip through some chores and weeding so I can get caught up and enjoy my sewing time! Thanks for the link up.
