Lollipop Finish

I’m so excited to have a finish to show you I can hardly stand it! 🙂 Seems like I’ve been sewing for a long time with not one thing actually finished. But no longer – I managed to finish something!

Lollipop Baby Quilt

This sweet little beauty is called “Lollipop”.  You might remember I showed you the flimsy here, and told you it was inspired by a disappearing nine patch that Cheryl of Meadow Mist Designs was working on. The top has been finished for a while, I just had to find the time to baste and quilt it. It was a really fun project for me – all scraps and fun quilting.

Now for more pictures!

Lollipop Baby Quilt - Nine patch

See that print on the top? That is the inspiration for the name of this quilt. Looks like a lollipop, don’t you think?

And this bird! I love this piece of fabric. It was one my niece picked for a pillow we made together for her.

The back is a wonderfully soft flannel from Riley Blake (I think). It feels so soft and cuddly.

This shows the detail of the quilting. I used a loopy flower design with a swirl thrown in here and there. It has been a little while since I’ve quilted this design and it is a fun one to do.

Loopy Flower Quilting Detail

I really enjoyed making this quilt. Everything came from my scrap bins or fabric stash. I did buy some Quilters Dream white batting since the only thing I had on hand was Warm and Natural. I really wanted that white background to be white.

Binding - Medium Gray - Kona Solid

I can’t wait to make another scrap baby quilt. Hmmm, fabric from the green bin? Blue? Both? Guess I’ll find out when I actually start working on it! 🙂

Today I’m linking up with Finish It Up Friday and NTT @ My Quilt Infatuation.

About Beth

I’m a wife, mother of two, and lover of all things crafty. I love to cook up new things in the kitchen and in my craft room, and sometimes get “licking the spoon” mixed up with “licking the fabric”!!

That does look like a container of red lollies! Thanks for highlighting some fabrics, they are the greatest scraps. Lucky baby who receives this one.

Beautifully done, Beth! I am quilting a quilt in which I used the D9P block but large blocks and sashed it (I wouldn’t have sashed it but that’s what the client wanted…) just on the horizontal rows. AND we did similar quilting design as well! Great minds think alike 😉

  13. Totally gorgeous! I love the colours and disappearing nine-patch is always so effective. Well done!
