It’s a Mug Rug!

Making some mug rugs is one of the projects I’ve wanted to try for a little while.  So Friday while it was storming here (it was sooo gloomy!) I decided to make one.

I think it turned out really cute.  What do you think?

The fabric was part of a “fill your bag for $3” sale my sister and I ran into while visiting her local quilt shop earlier in the spring.  You know, it’s amazing how much fabric you can stuff in a lunch-sized paper bag! 🙂  Because there are no selvages I have no idea what, who, where, when this fabric is.  If you know, maybe you could share info with us?

Anyway, the fabric is cute and while the tape measure fabric is not totally appropriate for the kitchen, I thought it would be great to keep in the sewing room for when I have a glass of iced tea or such.

It was easy to sew up and I quilted it with my walking foot using straight lines almost 1/2″ apart with a light yellow thread.  I’ll definitely be making more of these in matching sets to use as gifts.

I hope you get to sew something fun this weekend!

I just found you through Friday Finishes with Crazy Mama Quilts and loved your Tumbler Baby Quilt (front AND back). It’s one of my wishes to make one, so I will follow your lead. And I can follow you on Bloglovin’ or WordPress. Looking forward to following you around!

The two prints go really well together! The ruler print is super cute.

I find mug rugs interesting. I see lots of people give them away as gifts, but do people who aren’t quilters actually know what they are without being told? I made a basket as a secret santa gift once and the person had no idea it was a basket (even though it looked like one IMO!) so I’ve not really been willing to make anything else where I’d have to explain it lol.

  4. Looks great! I have some of the striped yellow/grey/black/white fabric in my stash, and I really like the ruler print, too! 🙂

I love to hear from you! I read all your comments and will respond by email to you.
