FMQ Sample Book

In between all of the other projects I have going on, I’ve been working on the pages for my FMQ sample ‘book.’

I am making the pages with a Kona solid and scrap batting. I know, I know – why am I using such a pretty solid when I could use muslin or a plain white fabric? Actually for a couple of reasons.

First, I want to quilt the designs using the quality fabrics that I normally use in my quilts. This helps me understand tension and how my machine works with these fabrics and threads.

Second, I got a great deal on this Kona so the cost was almost as inexpensive as muslin. Win, win!

I have created a page on the blog specifically for showing each sample as I get them made. The link is on the menu bar and titled “Quilting Designs“. This will keep everything easy to find, and you won’t get tired of seeing these kind of posts from me. However, I will try to let you know when I’ve added something to that page so you can check it out!

I hope you’re having a wonderful week!

I didn’t even think about tension. Such a great idea to use proper weight fabric even for practice.

Your samples are looking great! Good idea to have a page for the pictures. I am working on a FMQ sampler quilt. Pattern testing for Christina Cameli. 🙂

  3. Great idea, Beth, and I really like the last pattern you show here – it’s fresh and fun!
