A few weeks ago I shared with you that I was quilting a quilt for my sister. She had a difficult time putting the top together and fell in and out of love with it several times. By the time she had the top done, she wasn’t feeling too warm and fuzzy about it.
Then she sent it to me. That’s when my machine decided it could no longer FMQ and fought me for two days. Needless to say, I wasn’t feeling all warm and fuzzy either.
We decided a good name for the quilt would be “Oops” because it was almost as if it wasn’t meant to be.
After the quilting was done and Sis put on the binding she was back in love with it and decided to enter it in a local quilt show, along with a beautiful snowman quilt she made.
Yesterday she called with the good news: her “Oops” quilt won 3rd place! Both of us are beyond excited!
(Please excuse the picture quality – she sent them to me from her phone and I’ve forwarded them here from my phone.)
I am so happy for her – I want to dance all over my house! This is the first show she’s entered and it’s been such a positive experience. The judges comments were pretty positive overall and their only criticism was to work on her binding.
These pics aren’t great, but I think you can see the quilt fairly well. It finished at 59″ square and she already has a place picked out to hang it in her living room.
Way to go Sister!!! 🙂
And just for fun, here’s a pic of her Snowman quilt. No ribbon, but it’s such a pretty quilt. I told her we could find room in my house for it but I don’t think she’s going to let it go….
