A Quick Friday Finish

I have been busy this week but don’t have any finished quilts to share.  However, I did whip up a quick project this morning and thought it would be fun to show you what I did.

Yesterday I was basting a quilt top that had a fair amount of threads on it. I baste my quilts in my kitchen/dining room and found myself picking off or clipping threads and putting them in a pile on a countertop behind me. Finally, it hit me. I need a thread catcher!

This is what I found to use:

Basting a quilt top

Isn’t that Rubbermaid bowl perfect? Well it worked, but I decided I needed something much more attractive to use. So this morning I whipped up this little cutie:

Thread Catcher

I like how bright and cheery my thread catcher looks and it will be so much more fun to use than the plastic bowl!

The fabric pieces are samples I picked up at the AQS show in Lancaster last month so I have no information on it. All I know is that it is too darn cute!

Don’t forget – the Sew Mama Sew Giveaway is still going on.  You can enter  my giveaway by visiting this post and enter others by visiting the Sew Mama Sew blog. Good luck!

That is so pretty!! Nice job! Cheryl made one for me, but I couldn’t bring myself to use it as a thread catcher. I am storing sewing supplies in it 🙂

I love fast finishes. Sometimes very satisfying! Your threadcatcher is beautiful. I must make one too.

Cute as anything! I just love your thread catcher, though the bowl worked, too. =) In my house, it’s usually the floor!

  6. Jasmine says:

I find clipping threads is so tedious. Maybe I need a catcher like this to make it more cheerful.

  7. Heidi says:

    That is a cutie!
I am with Triple F – I still have no thread catcher!

Love that fabric. This is one of those projects I need to make myself also and never get to.

  9. Fast finishes can be so satisfying. Your thread catcher is so bright and cherry! I just use a little plastic tub that is meant to go in a drawer for organization… 🙂
